The Scents Filling my House this Season

Is anyone else just completely obsessed with candles!? I remember it all starting with when I first took a sniff of Yankee Candle’s Strawberry Buttercream and thinking “How can I ever allow my room to smell of anything else but this?”. Ever since then, candles were something that I could always justify spending money on (although I’m still working my way to buying a Jo Malone candle), and since moving to our new house, I’ve branched out to buying a lot of diffusers too.

Now that I’ve sadly packed away all my Christmas candles (yes, it takes me a good few months to say goodbye to my spiced cinnamon scents), I thought it would be a good time for me to share all the amazing smells filling my house at the moment.

  1. White Lily Signature CandleThe White Company
This is such a delicate mix of white peonies, freesias and lilies – it just fills the room with such a fresh and homely smell. It’s the most expensive one out of this list, so I do only bring it out on special occasions, but when the packaging is so clean and minimalistic, I’m not complaining with it just sitting prettily on my sideboard either!

  2. “Red Velvet Cupcake” – Bath & Body Works
Oh my goodness. Now I thought nothing would ever beat Yankee Candle’s Strawberry Buttercream, but I think this does. When James first gifted me this for Christmas and I took a whiff of it, my initial reaction was that it was way too sickly and overpowering. Boy, was I wrong.
When burning, the balance is just perfect, and not too strong at all. I love how cleanly the Bath & Body Works 3-wick candles burn too; it’s a game changer!

  3. Sinnlig, Red Garden Berries Scented Tealights IKEA
At £1.50 for a pack of 30 – these are an absolute STEAL in my opinion. I’d tried the vanilla IKEA tea lights before, and didn’t think they worked well in a big room at all as the smell was quite faint, but it’s the complete opposite for these red berry ones. I was so surprised at how fragrant they were. I burn three at a time usually, and it was more than enough for our living room.

  4. White Jasmine Fragranced DiffuserNext
I obviously can’t get enough of a jasmine scent and I just adore how stylish this bottle looks, and the cute details of petals inside. The scent is very strong however, so I wouldn’t recommend using it in a smaller room at all but it’s perfect for big open spaced areas.

  5. Lime, Basil & Mandarin Diffuser ASDA
A new addition to my collection, and I already know this is going to become a repeat buy. Who knew ASDA would have such a hidden gem! It’s only £4 a bottle, and it really is just the most gorgeous combination of smells.

What sort of scents do you usually love having in the house? Fruity? Floral? Let me know in the comments!

Loungewear on a Budget | The H&M Pieces you Need

Now I don’t know about all of you, but when I get in from work everyday, the first thing I will do is have a shower, and get straight in to my jammys. Home = slob time for me.

But what do we do now that we are working from home!? Is it acceptable to be in pyjamas 24/7? YES…probably not?
If you’re like me and just can’t work from home in anything that doesn’t have elasticated waist bands, and loose fitting tops – then H&M have answered our prayers!

H&M has always been a firm favourite for me, especially when I need to tighten the purse strings a bit. I am a huge fan of the quality you get for the price, and I wanted to share some of my favourite things from my recent purchase.

(In order)
I was in need of some new, comfy tops that are wearable with every outfit and I have to say, this cute Love Jersey T-Shirt and comfy Dark Mole T-Shirt were perfect! I personally am always more drawn to a loud, patterned skirt/bottoms – so with tops, I usually like to keep it plain and simple.

Speaking of loud bottoms, my favourite of my purchases have been these patterned joggers, or as I like to call them, my “gap year” pants. They’re high waisted, stretchy, loose fitting and have pockets – the necessity to your loungewear wardrobe.
The weather has been absolutely glorious, making our daily walk so enjoyable, but it can still be a bit deceivingly chilly. So I had to pick up these grey cotton-blend joggers which are a bit warmer to wear on any windy walks.

This striped jumper is going to be a transitional staple wear for me. I love wearing jumpers and hate leaving behind all my thick wooly knitwear now that we’re entering that awkward Spring jumper/no jumper weather. This is warm enough and thin enough for that, and I love that it’s so bright – the red stripes against the white really stands out well!

So you’ve got a Zoom meeting with your boss today. Does anyone else dress up on the top, and slob it out on the bottom? This ribbed fitted top has become part of my “smart casual” work from home meeting outfit. Although it’s fitted, it’s so surprisingly comfortable, while remaining a very flattering fit.

My Essie Favourites this Month

Essie remains my number one brand for nail varnish. Whilst I still continue to add to my ever growing collection, I thought I’d whittle it down to the three shades I can’t get enough of recently. I’ve just been constantly rotating these three, as they’re so wearable and match anything and everything…including my very jazzy pyjamas, because that’s all I’ve been in!

Starting off with Essie’s Island Hopping, it’s this perfect dusty plum shade, that is an absolute must-have for rocking in sunny weather!

Essie’s Merino Cool has become my go-to to wear to work. It’s a dark smokey taupe colour, and for me, it just oozes sophistication! Take your standard “shirt and skirt” look, and this shade can just instantly add the right edge to your outfit.

Last but not least, I’ve recently rediscovered my love for Essie’s Sole Mate. As a rich burgundy colour, most would reserve this for the autumn/winter season, but when something is this wearable, it would be a shame not to use it to vamp up any look! If you need a dark shade in your collection, this is the one.

What are some of your Essie favourites?

Product Review | L’Occitane Immortelle Oil Make-up Remover

Right, we’ve all been there. Coming out of the bathroom with tears in your eyes, skin bright red, raw and irritated. There’s only one reason for it – scrubbing hard to remove that makeup that just will not budge.

I got the L’Occitane Immortelle Oil makeup remover for Christmas after it was high on my wish list, and it has been my absolute saving grace. My main two everyday makeup items are eyeliner and mascara, and we all know that it can be an absolute pain to remove sometimes.
All I need though is one little pump from this, and it all comes off so easily!

It is so gentle on the skin, and feels really silky to apply. I love that I can just rub it in with my hands and wash it off, rather than having to apply it on a cotton pad. It makes the whole process of removing makeup a whole load more relaxing, rather than a daunting chore.

I guess the only downside would be the price. I’m not usually one to really splurge on my makeup removers, I’ve previously relied on something from Boots, or the Body Shop which is a bit more budget friendly.
This costs £22 for a 200ml bottle, but although the price sounds a little more than what you may usually buy from the drugstore, a little really goes a long way, and with such effective results.

Overall, it is definitely something I can see myself buying again. It’s made my skin feel so much less irritated, and dare I say, I actually look forward to taking my makeup off at the end of the day.

Have you tried the Immortelle Oil Make-up Remover? What were your thoughts?

My Last Month of Netflix

I have a confession…I only got Netflix a few months ago.
Yes, I was one of those people who stayed awkwardly quiet whilst everyone else swapped stories on the latest shows that were trending. Now that I have it, how did I survive so long without it!?

So, after spending countless hours catching up on all the hot shows, and eating my weight and more in snacks – I thought I’d share what I’ve finished and loved this last month.

The Stranger

I just HAD to start with this one. If you love gripping thrillers, it’s impossible for you to not love this one. After the first episode, I had so many unanswered questions – and I did wonder how they would cover everything over the space of only seven more episodes. I can tell you however that they did, and every minute was brilliant.

You

It’s Dan Humphrey! Oh wait…Dan Humphrey got creepy as hell.

Penn Badgley is absolutely fantastic in this. Although, just a fair warning, if you’re planning on watching Gossip Girl for the umpteeth time – prepare yourself, because sweet, endearing “Lonely Boy” will never look the same again.

What does everyone think the third season will be about!? Send me your thoughts in a DM on Instagram to avoid leaking any spoilers!

Love is Blind

When I saw a clip of this on Gogglebox, I just knew that this would be my kind of show, and it was. Cheesy, ridiculous, and with extreme levels of cringe – what’s not to love? It’s the easiest thing to watch, and will have you screaming at the TV in disbelief in no time.

Sex Education

“Wash your hands you detty pig!”

If you know, you know.
I’m praying for Netflix to reveal when Season 3 will be making an appearance because I am seriously missing Eric’s infectious laugh, and hilarious one-liners.
You’ll be hooked from the get-go, although, probably not one to watch with the family…

What have you been loving on Netflix this month? I could always use more recommendations!

New Beginnings…

It’s hard to start something new.

Instagram has been something that I have always enjoyed (no matter how hard I tried to stay away!) and something that I’ve been on since I was 16. But when it comes to blogging, I always wanted to get in to but saw it as more “unfamiliar territory”.
I’ve started and stopped more times than I can count over the years, whether it’s due to work, general life, and also just because I was anxious over whether I was any good at it, or if anyone is even out there reading.

But this year, even though we’re already coming in to April and I may be late to the party for new years resolutions, I want to force myself out of my comfort zone.

So it’s decided – I will start blogging! I’ve left behind the old blogs, left behind the old social media sites I once had, and I’m starting again. New content, new start.

Watch this space, there will be more to come.
